Samuel had gone to Wilkinson Co in 1812 to volunteer with his two brothers,
James and William, to volunteer for Gen. Claiborne's Regiment for service
in the war of 1812. After his enlistment was up, he met and married
Elizabeth Price. In 14 Nov 1815, he received a deed of conveyance
from Rev War Soldier John Coulter, who had settled in the area after the
war. It was "...in
consideration of the Natural Love which I entertain for my dear relative, John Coulter Brice, a Child between ten and eleven months old the descendant of Samuel Brice, and Elizabeth, his wife...I have given, granted, made over, and by these presents to give, grant, and make over unto the said John Coulter Brice aforesaid One Negro Girl named Diddy, about seven years of age and now in the possession of the said Samuel Brice, father of the Child aforesaid,... Samuel later left MS for AR and later returned to LA and TX; |
